Chemistry1 : Catalyst

1) A catalyst is a substance that changes the rate of reaction but does not affect the rate of reaction but affect the rate of the products or the type of products formed.

2) A catalyst has the following characterics :

* Does not change the amount of products formed.
* It is  unchanged chemically at the end of the reaction. ( The amount of the catalyst is the same beforew and after the reaction take place )
* It is specific. Different reactions require different catalyst.
* Only a small amount of catalyst needed to catalyse a reation.
