Bio 7 : Heterotrophic nutrition

1. There are 3 types  of heterotrophic nitrition :

a. Holozoic nitrition :
*involves feeding by ingesting complex organic matter  which are then digested and absorded.
*Examples of organisms with holozoic nutrition are animals and insectivorous plants.

b. Saprophytism :
*involveed feeding by absorbing their required nutrients from dead organic matter.
*most saprophytes are bacteria and fungi like mushrooms, yeasts and Mucor sp. (bread mould)

c. Parasitism :
* involving feeding  by absorbing their nutrients from living organism.
*Examples : fleas, lice and tapeworm.
