TILLING THE LAND

The hot sun beat down on the farmer tilling his land. It was hard work and sweat fell profusely from the farmer’s face.
When the farmer had prepared the land sufficiently, he sowed maize seeds in rows along the the ground.
Time passed.  The seeds germinated and young plants appeared above the ground.
The plants grew taller and taller. They flowered and not along after that ears of maize (or corn) appeared on the stems of the plants.
The ears of maize grew bigger and bigger and soon they were ready for harvesting.
The farmer came and picked the ears of maize from the plants. He put them into a wheelbarrow.
Later on the farmer’s wife cooked some of the ears of maize in a huge spot. She also strung the ears of maize together and hung them on a shed beside the road. There she waited for customers to come and buy the maize.
